Today we left the hustle and bustle of San Pedro and went on a distant relative (cousin of my uncle) hunt in Sartaneja. It is a very sleepy town with not much there, and almost totally untouched by the tourist industry. We did as instructed and asked a local to point us in the direction of the Canadian couple who live in the blue house. To our surprise he knew exactly who we meant and even walked us there to so show us the way. Unfortunately, when we got there, the house looked very vacant and a lady next door told us that they had left 4 days ago!! We were so close, it was very frustrating!
Feeling a bit downhearted we went off to find somewhere to sleep for the night...it was almost looking that that was going to be a park bench as the 1st place we went to was seriously expensive and the 2nd was full (there were only about 3 options in the town!). We must have been looking very fed up, tired and hot because we were soon rescued by a lovely Dane and his Austrian wife who offered us a lift to the hostel (5 mins out of town). They were such a helpful couple and said that if we didn´t like the place (which we didn´t), he would drive us to a better place, which he did! They were heading out for dinner with some friends that night and invited us along. So we didn´t get to see the couple we were originally planning on visiting but we got two fabulous replacements. We had a lovely evening, good food and a great nights sleep in our slightly pricey but lovely hotel room.
