Heylo guys, first time we've been able to use a computer since we arrived. Well done all you super skinny people hiding in my backpack...it was underweight! wahooooo! After having a sizeable dinner in departures, food again was on the cards (see a trend developing already with food!) when we got on the plane huugggee chinese dinner! Arrived at 5pm HK time after figity pants didn't get any sleep all night long! You'll all be pleased to know laura got through the flight without stressing scott to the max wahoooooo! Never thought I would be saying that! We collected our sexy looking backpacks and off we went with chief mapreader scott nav on a mission to walk yes walk from the train station to the hotel. 40 minutes and numerous mountains, steps, more mountains and miles later we arrived dripping wet from head to toe. Gonna have to do some bloody washing now already! We were right int he middle of high rise buildings. This place is unreal. All buildings are a minimum of 25 floors. We went to the supermarket...but laura was put off the fish option because they were still swimming around the tank!
DAY 1
For the first full day in HK we got up super duper early and scott nav took us to the peak tram station going via the supermarket to pick up breakfast! AKA croissants and mango juice mmm! Once at the top we went on a little hike to find views! Scott got over excited at seeing lots of jogger people running! After acting like the chinese dudes taking millions of pictures of the same thing (trying to blend in here) we went on a search of the second richest road in the world- Seven Road which was well and truly hidden amongst the trees! So we headed up a driveway to see what happened and if we could get a better look...so we could choose what holiday home we wanted one day! hahahaha! The places were huge with their own car parks. We then headed back down the peak to search for Scotts favourite thing...food! All the menus outside were chinese so we gambled with what we thought looked good! They crammed you on tables with others inside and we sat with a chinese man who told us all about hong kong and then all about how young people these days ate lots of burgers over chinese food...how!!! He also told us the traditions of new year...spending it having a reunion with family as they usually live miles from each other! If your single apparently on NYE you should give red envelopes with money in to younger people as a means of good luck...im still waiting for mine from scott! :(
After we went on 800m worth of esculators which scott thought was very lazy we walked over to the bank of china and up to the 43rd floor to get the amazing views of hong kong! Hiking back to the hotel was long and steep...like climbing mt everest. After oversleeping from our afternoon nap (jetlag!) we ran to catch the tram with beadhair to go to the wednesday night horse races at happy valley. However when we got there, there wasn't so much happy valley...but closed valley as it was shut on the only wednesday of the year...the chinese new year...b*****! Though stronger words were coming out scotts mouth. The tram ride did offer scenic views of the night lights which was good as we had to catch it straight back! haha! Once back to central, scotts belly informed us it was dinner time so we went to look for food. After avoiding all the people who try and drag you into their restaurants we found one just off the street...mmm food! We then skipped home up the heffa hill and went leep...after watching world news...which did'nt show cairns to be too promising at the mo...double b*****. Body clock was still muddled however as we were wide awake in the middle of the night...but by the time we came to get up we were sleeeepy! dammit!
DAY 2
Bought a nice breakfast of croissants and orange juice and went to sit in hong kong park. Scott was still mesmorised by the tall tall buildings surrounding the park...and so was I. We sat int he sunshine by the waterfalls and could have stayed all day looooong...but decided by making the most of the day and catching the star ferry accross the harboutr to Kowloon which scott renamed kowpat as it was a pile of s***e. Highlight of the trip over was looking at the world famous chunking mansions where millions of rooms and hostels were ccrammed into one building. We also kept getting harassed to buy suits...goodness knows why we looked like we needed one! Was truly rammed on the island so we hopped back to hong kong island whilst we remained sane. We passed a dancing dragon and chinese drums on the way to find noodles! Shopping malls are a little on the post side here, you could be at home, apart from one thing...it was full of chinese people! We also found they liked to have their photo taken outside mcdonalds hahahaha...strange people! Back to the hotel to watch world news and pack for Perth!
Will blog again sooooooooon xxx
