After the sunburning episode of Bondi Beach I was glad to be in a country that was quite cool, although it is really sunny. We found accomodation straight away and organised our trip around the south of the island with an excursion company.

We initially planned to leave within a couple of days of landing in Christchurch but because we wanted to stay out of the sun we stayed a couple of days extra in Christchurch. I wisely invested in all sun care products in all of New Zealand including a cap, factor 30+ lotion, after sun lotion etc. etc.

I still look like a red lobster (if you want to laugh we have put a picture of me burnt on www.statravelblogs.com/Nimz/album) but despite this we went into the town centre which is really small, it reminds me of Harrow Town with half the population.

The nightlife has been pretty quiet as it is the weekday so we have entertained ourselves by getting a few drinks from the off license and watching some classic DVDs i.e. Pulp Fiction.

We are planning to leave Christchurch to go Franz Josef Glacier tomorrow and then on to Markora and then Queenstown so hopefully we should see the real New Zealand then.
