Friday it poured of rain and the roof leaked making the clothes we were going to wear soaking wet. After a couple of hours the rain cleared and we went on our planned walking trip arounnd the local village.
The people here lead a very simple life farming, living in bamboo houses with just enough animals to be self sufficient, goats , chickens and a couple of oxen to help plough. We stopped for tea at a local house, then on to the Tharu Community Centre ( local tribe ) , where we are given a glass of some sort of herbal medicine and a bowl of very spicy veg! The drink was very strong and not nice, but we had to partake as it would be rude to refuse. We were informed we would be coming back in the evening to watch the cultural dancing ( Ray cannot wait hehe ).
We continued to walk until lunch time then returned to lodge. Later we set off on another walk to an observation tower through the community forest. As usual we do not stay on the paths. I have now discovered that the guide has a nicotine addiction and weak bladder as he was always stopping for cigarette or pee. The guide points out more rhino poo, l did not realise that thy came in to this part, so was very anxiuos again lol. The heavens opened so we had to hurry to he observation tower, with the noise of the rain you cannot hear if the rhino are about!, we made it, but the rain put pay to seeing any birds or animals except for an owl and oriel. The rain did not stop so got drenched on way back. The cultural show is cancelled much to Rays delighr.
