Jonnys Eastern Delights!
Ever since I first went Prague 3 years ago, I had been dying to go back. Yes it is tourist central, but somehow for me that does not take anything away from what is a really magical place - even ignoring the cheap beer! We had a really nice, new hostel for our 3 nights in Prague and it was such a relief to finally have somewhere comfortable to stay. So after a little kip after we arrived ,we set out and had a wander around Old Town Square, the Clock Tower, and Charles Bridge - one of my favourite places on Earth. I can;t really explain why, I just find it magical - it must be the romantic in me! One drink right underneath the bridge then set off a bar crawl all the way home where we rustled up a pretty decent meal for ourselves and then just had a nice quiet night in. Good job really since the next two nights would be heavy to say the least!
Friday was just a great day. We visited the impressive castle - the biggest complex in the world - during the afternoon and then had a big late lunch where I upset the staff for complaining about the fact that they had added a compulsory 25% tip - you have got to be kidding me! They soon took it off when I threatened to ring the manager, but I got some evils on the way out! Back at the hostel, with nobody else seeming to be up for a Friday night out in Prague, we had few cheap beers and then headed out to the hugely popular "Biggest Music Club in Middle Europe". Five floors of different music and cheap drinks were great, slight shame it was a bit like an English sausage party though. Everyone seemed to be from back home, and the overwhelming majority of people were blokes - no good for me finding any local stunners then! Still, fair to say that the 3 of us all had a good night and created our own entertainment, bringing it all to a close sometime around 6am.
Unsuprisingly, Saturday was a bit of a nothing day - Gemma didn't even make it out of the hostel! Bex and I had a walk through the market streets and to Wenceslas Sq, but we too soon gave in and returned home for a much needed siesta, before the carnage started all over again!
We tried something new to start with, trekking all the way to the outskirts of town to a place that I can best describe as grungey - not my cup of tea, and so we jumped in a cab all the way back to our trusty 5 storey club for more drunken dance moves, but sadly no success on the companion front. We bailed slightly earlier than the previous night - probably a good thing given how rough I for one felt during Sunday! We tried to keep the day easy on the tired eyes and pounding heads, though we did take in the Jewish quarter briefly, and I tried unsuccessfully to find a place that Mike and I had gone to previously.
And so a big weekend of partying came to an end by, apparently, me snoring in the carriage of the train and keeping everyone else awake, but I don't beleive that. Something tells me it won't be the last time I ever visit Prague!
