Dalat is known as the Honeymoon capital of Vietnam and the town of eternal Spring; So we thought it could be an ideal location to visit after the wedding to relax for a few days. After the previous week of festivities we were both fairly tired so we didn't plan much and decided just to have a few nice walks here and there. I think we both had high expectations of Dalat. A lakeside town set in the mountains we had heard great things. Dalat was alot bigger than what we both expected and really it seemed like just another town, and apart from the big lake it didn't really seem to have much else going for it and lacked in character. The views on the way to Dalat were beautiful and as the bus wound its way up the mountains we were shown some spectacular scenery. We spent our time in Dalat walking around the lake and just generally exploring. We tried to find a couple of attractions but with one of them (due to us not being able to get hold of a descent enough map) even the taxi driver didn't have a clue where he was going and eventually after driving in one big circle we abandoned the Summer Palace and went instead to the Crazy House. An Alice in wonderland Themed house made-up of fairytale style houses, large stone mushrooms and a giant spidersweb. Quite a fun place to visit and wander around for half an hour.
I think a pleasant point to note about Dalat was the temperature: Around 35-40 degrees in Nha Trang we was now down to a very comfortable 25 degrees in Dalat and walking around it felt extremely nice to feel remotely cool. The night time temperatures also dropped and we both managed to sleep without any air conditioning. We decided that a couple of days in Dalat was plenty so booking our bus we will continue our Honeymoon period to Mui Ne, another beach resort to relax once again before reaching the very hectic Saigon.
