Hello there pretty people who are reading my blog. I want to start by letting you all know that I am getting a real reputation for telling really interesting stories!! By the way, this is a lie! It all started cos I thought it would be really funny to say to Russ the Musc, 'Russ, what would you do if you went to collect your washing from the laundry lady, and when you turned up, she was wearing all your clothes!!?? Like, I mean, three pairs of shorts, two t-shirts, whatever. Seriously - how funny would that be. Then you say, can I collect my washing, and the lady is like "i don't think you put your washing in here, you must be mistaken", whilst wearing everything you own! That would be funny right??' Basically that story is legendary around Thailand now!
Anyway, back to my blog! I am currently in Singapore and I LOVE IT!! I wana live here. People say its really sterile and has no character, but I love it. Maybe that says something about me. The whole being sterile is true, but that's the best bit. It is just so organised, and so cool! Its wicked. Its actually such a small place really, but the night life is meant to be amazing, although I havn't seen that much cos its so expensive. No more so than England, but on a travellers budget its too much. The MRT is like a very small underground and so easy to use. I'm a right local now!
When I first arrived I went to China Town and stayed somewhere called 'Fearnleaf' i think. Its all dorms out here so weird when you've had a room to yourself. Its fine though. Checked into this place. It wasn't great but I had been travelling for 40 plus hours by this point and smelt. Started unpacking, whilst being massively perved on by the owner. He was basically being really rude to this Chinese woman (who I thought was his wife, but turned out was just a guest), and then saying to me 'i am telling her that Chinese women are untidy and lazy. I like English women the most because they are so beautiful and knowledgable.' I was like, riiight!! Anyway, he then proceeded to watch me unpack everything. When I asked if I could help him with anything, he said know, and just carried on watching me. He then later had porn on his computer - fabulous! I checked out the next day! The Chinese woman, Jany, came with me (went to Prince of Wales in Little Indian where the girls were - very fun place!). Jany was so thankful to me that the next day she gave me an absolutely beautiful Chinese carved fan that she had brought from home, and two tomatoes!! Dunno about the tomatoes, but the fan is gorgeous. Look Sam - I was the kind stranger this time and I didn't even know it!!
Anyway, charged my phone to find a message from the girls saying they were at the night at their hostel in Little Indian, and that I should come, so I did. Shattered and smelling and still wearing Jake's headband (that's another story!) I went over there just to get away from this guy. Turned out to be a very nice night that I bowed out of early die to lack of sleep, but the girls got taken all around Singapore by some older Australian men and didn't pay for a thing - nice work if you can get it! (that wasn't meant to make them sound like prostitutes!! ha).
Next day Clare and I went to Sentosa beach (completely man made and the lowest physical point of Asia). Lots of people slag it off cos its fake, but we really liked it. It was the hottest day of my whole trip so the fake beach was muchly appreciated. Cafe del Mar was playing some bangin' tunes (which I text both Lu and Gem about and got no response - tah girls!!), but it was wicked - although ALOT of posers! That night we met up with Jay and SJ and had drinks at their hotel. Got to see the amazing view over Singapore, which just made me love it more! Stayed out for a few with them and then got the pleasure of a very comfy bed with SJ. Also got some wicked wicked pressies from Alex, Tommy and Michelle - so that really made me smile!
The next day SJ and I chilled in the Spa and the Sauna room, and I had a bath - it was the cleanest I have been in over a month! Tried to clean my injury, which is actually just a big hole, and which Jay suggested may be a spider bite. I did get it in the jungle about 2 weeks ago, so I am a little concerned! Had a lovely early night and slept like a baby.
Next day - went to the zoo. Oh my god - best zoo ever. Have my reservations about zoos, but I tell you what - this one rocked!! Some animals (not the tigers) are free to roam around - very funny! Met a cool guy Nick, so did half the day with him. I will put photos on ASAP. That evening was introduced to a very cool girl called Kate, and went to dinner and got very drunk with her. She had a 24 hour ferry journey the next day - hehe!! I stayed in bed!
Spent today wandering around Singapore with a map. Went to the Marriot and got jealous, and then took myself to the cinema on my own (I am just sooo independent) to watch Bearwulf - wicked, but f***ing gruesome and scary for a PG!! Can you tell that I am back on my own again and not drinking - got so much more to say for myself! Love it. Another early night me thinks - I am loving the sleep after a week of none!
KL to see Hannah tomorrow - over and out - hope you're not all too cold! x x x
