Well we arrived after a 10 hour flight with BA. The Pilot made up time and got us here early, only to arrive with several other flights and then be stuck in immigration for 2 hours. At least it was air conditioned but very boring and tiresome, especially watching our baggage going round and round on the carousel and then being taken off and dumped in a pile.
Finding the bus from the Cancun airport to Playa Del Carmen was easy and not too long a wait. It was also fairly cheap at 120 pesos per person for an hours journey in a comfortable air conditioned coach. Do not take any notice of the men who tell you that the bus has just left and there isn't another for a few hours. Their plan is to take you into Cacun on a long taxi ride that costs a fortune.
Finding El Acuareo hotel was not difficult either, but by then we were tired and hot and man is my back pack heavy!!!
Woke up next day feeling a little rough and confused as to what time it is as we are 6 hours in front of UK time. We took a little wander round the neighbourhood and found some good breakfast. A little further we found the beach - blue seas, white beaches and palm trees my idea of paradise. Took a swim in the hotel pool which was very welcoming as the temperature is 29 degrees. The rest of the day we just chilled out getting used to the idea that this it for a year.
Today, 19th March, Andy has gone for his first couple of dives, just easy ones to get him back into the swing of things. That gives me chance to catch some rays, go for a swim and update the blog. Sounds like heaven to me. Check out the new album for a few photos.
Tomorrow bus to Tulum and Secret Garden Hotel.
