I love Rome.

I love the buildings, the people, the food, the weather, the vespas, the crazy parking (check out my photo gallery for some examples) and of course the culture/attractions.

This morning we walked down to our local ATM. We are staying in a student district so it's cheapish and has lots of bars/pizzerias and graffitti. On the way back we went into a little market and bought bread, cheese, meat, olives etc with clumsy 'grazie's' and a lot of pointing. The stall holders were very patient and even wrote down the total to pay them as they couldn't speak english and we don't know how to count that far!

We had a nice lunch at the apartment. Our apartment is older style but clean and comfortable. It's in a residential block so it is quiet and we have a lounge, kitchen etc instead of just a hotel room.

We walked into the tourist area (took about an hour but was enjoyable and I did stop to take lots of pics) and did a tour of the Colosseum. Our guide was very dramatic and funny and made it much more interesting than if we had just walked through.

When we were approaching down a narrow street and the Colosseum first came into view Quentin put his hand on my shoulder and said 'it's amazing to think, just a few years ago..... Russell Crowe was fighting as a Gladiator in there'. Way to totally ruin the moment Q. Hopeless!

After that we had lunch ( we moved inside the restaurant after a random guitar playing dude began 'serenading' us against our will and undoubtedly hoping for money)... more pasta for me and pizza for Q. Very nice again.

Then we walked around the local area and took photos etc before heading back on the epic walk back to the apartment.

We were so tired and jetlagged we fell asleep without dinner and by 8.30pm. We didn't even get to go and get more gelati! Forgot to mention that in the previous post. They have nutella flavour. OMG heaven!
