We left Toowoomba 21 September down the disgusting Warrego Highway. The floods, plus loads of heavy trucks have made such a mess of the roads.
It was nice to get back tothe coast to see and smell the ocean. We met up with Phil and Lyn and decided a fish and chip dinner was in order. Petes Kitchen on the spit is the best place. You choose your own fish and they cook it to your liking. There is nothing better than fish and chips out of the paper watching the comings and goings thru the Southport seaway on the end of the spit. The sun going down over the mountain was an added bonus and a glass or two of wine wouldhave added the last perfect touch but we had to settle for a soda!! Day two ....we managed to spend another chunk of our Boys inheritance. Two sea kayaks have been aded to our entourage, plus the roof rackto put them on. All in the name of our fitness of course. They even say we can fish off them....that remains to be seen....it took us a while and lots of laughter just getting in and out of them!! We played until a huge thunderstorm threatened to blow us out of the water!. After a pleasant stay in Southport, Keith and I went to Noelle and Wills place in Myacum, just at the back of Byron Bay. Phil and Lyn were still waiting for the repairs to their motorhome tobe finished. We had a lovely catch up with them and left with a dozen fresh laid eggs, lemons and limes off the trees, fresh picked herbs . The Tweed Valley is one of the most beautiful places in Australia and their property is stunning....100 acres with a couple of houses, chooks, dogs and the biggest breed of Chinese birds we have ever seen....they are like dinasours and are beingbred for thetable. Oh and lots of cows as well. We are now in Casino for the long weekend. We passed thru Bangalow, a lovelly little villlage we must revisit ..Its all very rural but very dry at the moment. Our next stop will be Coffs Harbour via Grafton so hoping the jacarandas are still in flower....
