Guy's Travels
This is the second time I have been to Hong Kong. It is one of the best places I have been to. It has so much to see and do, also it is a cheap place to visit. Firstly the best way to get into the city from the airport is to get a Octopus card from the aiport train station it costs about $50 aussie dollars and it gives you a return ticket on the train that takes you in the city, 3 days of unlimited rides in the MTR which is the train network and $20 HK dollars to spend on either the ferries or shops that take the octopus card or the peak tram. Whats even better is you can reload the card with more money and you just have to scan it everywhere you go and you don't have to wrorry about change. Also when you return the card at the airport you get a $50 HK dollar refund.
Their are alot of key places that need to be visited in Hong Kong one of them being the peak tram it costs $20HK each way and it is a very steep ride to the top but it gives you the most spectacular views of the city. Their are many shoping centres and markets where you can unload your money at. The best markets to visit are the temple street night markets, here you can haggle to at least 1/4 of the price that is first offered so you can pick up some real bargains. Another must do is take a ferry to Hong Kong from Kowloon. It only costs about $2.20HK dollars which is very cheap and gives you a ride on the old ferries accross the harbour.
Taxis are a very cheap option if you find yoouself stuck somewhere. Also food is very inexpensive. I went to the Ocean World theme park on the other side of Hong Kong island which a excellent place if you want some thrill rides or to see the Panda Bears.
A scam that i would like to warn you about is that many people in Hong Kong hand out things to you in the steet but if a person dressed up in a monks outfit comes up to you and sais Lucky Lcuky dont accept what he is giving you because it coust cost you.
Besides that Hong Kong is full of like and diversity and i would recommens this destination to anyone.
TIP: Whenever you go to visit a country whos first language is not English always pick up a broshure in english and 1 in their language. It makes it easy when you need to get on a bus, taxi or ask someone in the street.
