The first time I have experienced this. Every person has a pat down upon entry to the airport and then again at the gate. But they use blue tents (see beneath the screen in the photo) for the women for privacy I guess but interesting since Malaysia is also a muslim country but it's not the same, it is just that women pat down women and men do men.
