Hello Everyone,
I am writing this blog from Phuket, Thailand but just letting you know about our time in singapore!
We arrived in singapore to be greeted at the airport by sheila who escorted us back to the 23rd floor apartment her and Mark have just out of the centre of the city. She was extremely helpful and sorted us out with rail cards and maps and took us in to the centre where we went to sentoza island. This is basically the entertainment centre of sinapore. We visited the underwater world which to be fair was just an over priced large aquarium. However the seal show that we got to witness afterwards was pretty cool. However the jet lagged kicked in and we suddenly found ourselves watching clapping seals while falling asleep so we decided a power nap would help.
That evening sheila took us to the hawker centre across from where they live where we were introduced to chilli sting ray which was surprisingly delicious! We had mackerel pate cooked in banana skins on the BBQ which also was a strange but quite pleasant taste. They are ridiculously cheap for amazing food. The desert was really odd as it was just a pile of ice with red and brown sauce topped with strawberry jam and underneath there was a surprise of kidney beans! How wrong can you get a desert...jesus! kidney beans and jam...err someone needs to get gordon in as that is a kitchen nightmare. The locals eat it everywhere and sometimes even add sweetcorn as an extra topping!
The following day we headed back into the city where we visited singapores china town. We went and had fish foot therapy...they have a special name for this but I can't remember what it was called. Anways I spent the 15minutes we had it squealling while sophie mocked me about being pathetic...it wasnt till later I found out that dad had also squealed like a girl too having it done! Ha...I am my fathers daughter! Mark and sheila have some good pictures as well dad which I will try and upload when I go back to singapore! Also in china town we tried some of the local cuisine which was $3 = 1.50pounds-soo cheap! although not all of singapore is like this...we didnt drink too much as even a pint is 6quid in the bars! We went to little india and walked round the markets there too which was interesting as it literally is little india!
For the evening we went off to the night safari which is part of sinapore zoo. You go around on a little tram round the park with a crazy sinaporian (is that what theyre called?) woman who made terrible jokes and tried to build up suspense over the big dangerous animals...it was really amusing! The tram ride consisted of about 7 different type of deer as well but also included some big cats, bears, lions and rhinos. We were able to walk around aswell and we decided to visit the flying squirrel section where the evil thing came out of nowehere and flew straight towards sophie who tried to use me as protection while we screamed like idiots!
We then flew to phuket the following day and that leads me on to the next blog...
Hope you enjoyed xxxxxxxx
