Hi again from the travellers in Kiwi land. unfortunately, we are sorry to inform our avid readers that will just be a quick entry as we do not have much time - we are desperately trying to copy our photos to cd as they are getting a little bit out of hand at the moment.
A brief rundown of our last few days - after Queenstown we headed to a little village called Te Anau (used as a base to go to Milford Sound) which was pretty but a bit weird (stupid old ppl looking down at us as we were staying in a caravan park thing with little units - so that p****ed us off a bit!! God damn ageists!!!) The next day we drove for 2 hrs to Milford Sound - NZ's largest fiord -= and did a nice 2.5hr cruise around that!! very impressive and pics will follow.
After that it was a big long drive to a nice ski resort called Wanaka - really nice weather, and a really nice place - would have liked to stay there longer!! Following this was another gruelling drive in Sunny D (getting annoyed by the fact that we only have AM radio in our car, which a) doesnt pick anything up or b) when it does the music is from the 1940's or something. It got so bad we were jumping for joy when Tom Jones came on as it was the only song that we had ever heard of!!! (there is not even a tape deck!!!)
Finally arrived at our destination - Franz Josef Glacier! Tiny village - 1 reason to go there - climbing the glacier! We did that this afternoon - could only afford the half day trip but was still wicked!!! got ice boots with spikes and climbed right up the face of the glacier!!
Thats about it at the moment!!! Been really fun but the driving is getting really boring - so far we have done over 2000kms (Sarah has driven 20kms!!!) so i have been going pretty hard!!!!
All for now - Greymouth next, followed by the hot natural springs at Hamner and some Whale spotting in Kaikoura (but only from the shore (the boats are a rip off!!!))
