Hello all...we have travelled around 450km north since our last blog. Currently we are all doing well in Nha Trang.
We have had a couple of stops before getting here. We have gone from the city - beach - mountains - beach.
When we went to meet the other at the Airport they were slightly delayed...not too long though. We had to get a taxi back to the City Centre..this resulted in a wee bit of conflict. It is unwriitten law through South East Asia..once you agree upon a price thats a done deal. We agreed a fare of 100,000 Dong to get back. Plus a small fee of 5-10,000 Dong for car parking. When we arrived he demanded 150,000. No Way! At the Airport he could speak pretty good English..but low and behold it ..he forgot how to speak English when we arrived. We all got out of the Taxi after arguing with him, got our bags out the back , passed him 100,000 and walked off. The stupid little b***** grabbed nick and pulled him back. In Vietnam you settle arguements with Money or Fists...never ever call the cops. Lucky for him he started to Understand English again. We arrived at our hotel around 1am..we stayed up drinking till 5.30am, everyone was wide awake and chatty.
The next day we went to visit the War Remnants Museum....although the locals call it the "American War Crimes Museum". Hmmmm...not too sure that they have fully forgiven them? It was certainly an eye opener. It didnt hold back on showing you anything. From pictures of Americans holding left overs of their blown up Soldiers ..to Jars of Foetus's effected by the Chemicals sprayed onto their land resulting in Mutalation. After that we went to visit the Independance Palace whihc was where the War officially ended...it was very Grand.
That evening we booked a tour to go and visit the Cu Chi Tunnels. We got to see the variety of traps the Viet Kong used during the War...some scary stuff. Some fo the tunnels you cant go into to ...reason being is that we are too big. We all went into a 90m tunnel which has 3 levels...at one point we were about 8 metres underground. Quite tiring as we had to crawl on our handsw and knees. I opted for the Monkey walk so i wouldnt get too dirty. Before going intp this tunnel I got to have one of my best expereinces so far. Firing a AK-47!! It cost me 200,000d for 10 rounds, live ammo. Awesome, especially as I hit to the target. Bet my Dad wasnt a crack shot like me. It was a good day to cap that off.
Sorry will add more to this blog shortly.
