Well... Sorry it's been a while I have been enjoying Buenos Aries for the past week! Staying longer then planned but had the best time after being worried about going on alone and I ended up not wanting to leave! I have met some great and 'interesting' people from all over the world, the majority from Australia.
The first day in Argentina was a 'nothing' day. Getting lost in the city center, I checked into Lime House Hostel that was recommended in Lonely Planet but I walked in and thought where am I staying! It was cold, damp and quiet. I went on the hunt for a busier hostel and checked into Milhouse Hipo a party hostel that lived up to its name! There are two Milhouse hostels in Buenos Aries and the party alternates between the 2.
I was Impressed that I made the walking tour at 10am on thursday to visit the north of Buenos Aries, Palermo. We visited the Jardin Botanico Carlos Thays, Jardin Japones and Rosadal (the french rose garden). We stopped for lunch in Palermo Soho and wandered the streets of Palermo Hollywood which was full of hippy restaurants, lots of boutiques and great architecture. I would recommend a tour if you are in The city because Buenos Aries has so much history and each district is so different.
If you are heading to Argentina make sure you bring some US Dollars with you, you can't get any here and the exchange rate for pesos is 8.8 for dollars and from a cash machine I can only get it at 5.8 rate. But be careful of your belongings because I met someone who had their money and passport stollen in a back alley cameo.
Saturday
After only an hours sleep I didn't want to waste the day. My room mates Mel and Danielle joined me for a cycle tour around the south of Buenos Aires. We visited the pink presidential palace - Casa Rosada, La Boca and San Telmo.
In La Boca we visited the famous Caminito, a short pedestrian walk lined with brightly coloured corrugated metal buildings with local artists selling paintings which added to the vibrant ambience.
My last day
Taking a long stroll to Recoletta, the last main area of BA that I was yet to visit. Unfortunately arriving at the Cementerio de la Recoletta 5mins too late! However, we had a sneaky look through the gates and had a birds eye view from the top of the next door shopping mall!
After a quiet start to the night it picked up! It was the last night of partying for me in Buenos Aries because I had a flight to catch the next morning, so thought I would make the most of it! A big group of us visited San Telmo and checked out a local Tango Club and Danced the night away.
I want to go back already!
