Adventures of Gamblegirl - France II
Then it was back to France the next day, in particular, THE FRENCH RIVIERA. We stayed in Antibes, but headed into Nice for the day. I WANNA LIVE THERE!!! It was so cool and gorgeous. While the ocean, even though it had pebbles instead of sand, Nice as lovely (wow felt Nannaish then!!). Easy to walk around which I did. Saw an ABC (another bloody Cathedral) called Catherdrale Russe. It was just gorgeous, even if I had to walk thru all the sex shops and was nearly dragged inside (oh where do I find these places!!!) but it was worth it. Then headed down the main shopping street (bought a new watch!), visited the Opera House and the Palasis Las Caris. After doing some sunbaking on the beach (in the French Riviera!!!) I went for lunch. When in swish, posh town one must do what the locals do - so I had lobster for lunch. It was so yummy!! I had to take a photo of it! Nice was so nice...
That night, it was off to Monte Carlo for all the glamour that is Monte Carlo. Saw the castle and jeez, is Monaco small!!! And swish. Holy moly, how swish is that! Highlight of the night is that there is a rule that all bus drivers must drive sans trousers (was about to say pants but realised that there are some English people on this email list and they might think something completely different!!!). Naturally all the girls on this trip were offended by this as our rather attractive driver stripped down to the boxers (nice chicken legs Mark!!). And because we were under the influence of a glass of champagne, we stole his trousers as well. Yes Maz, this is the daughter that you have raised...
Oh there is a story re this trip. Um we kinda lost one of our travellers. She got lost at this watchhouse ruins that we'd stopped off at for lunch and missed the bus. As we had a big night previously, the tour manager forgot to count the crew and no one noticed that she was missing until well a little bit later at our next services stop. Me - I would have lost it right then and there. A foreign country, no speaker English let alone the language... Yet she got on the next bus and made her way to the next campsite. Now we have running joke about making sure we get ont he bus...
Something that I forgot to mention when in Paris is a I have an Arc de Triomphe story. In our night tour that we did, Mark gunned the bus and around we went. Sure that doesn't sound a big deal, but if you have been there, going around that oversized roundabout, well its organised chaos. Heck, I've stood there and gasped and laughed as cars have tried to make their way around. To amuse me more, well two people tried to cross over without using the walkway. As you do!! It was so funny watching cars squeal to a stop and try and avoid hitting them. They are a lot braver then me that's for sure.
Having a great time
Gamblegirl!!!
Love and kisses from your neighbourhood freak!!!!
