The Paths Less Travelled
My efforts were rewarded with this impressive view of the town of Oyndarfjørður. Views like this are virtually everywhere, with ultra steep hillsides and cliffs rising fro sea level to over 500 meters (1,500 feet)!
I know what you're going to ask about the many rings in the fjord. Those are were your North Atlantic fish fillets are raised. Many of the fjords up here have them, with an adjoining processing plant and a local community supplying labor.
The Faroes have traditionally been a hub for fisheries. However International over fishing of the North Atlantic forced the Faroese to be creative.
Also, those rock wall structures in the foreground? Those are old peat mining enclosures.
