Mummy
Hello dear! Your account of Bondi and the Bridge was fascinating, as usual. I'm so sorry to hear, though, that you are plagued by bites. You'll remember that I'm like that with mosquitos. Everybody I know seems to get only a small red itchy lump - I get huge black marks, swollen limbs - you name it! I wonder if these bedbugs are in your clothes, and you're actually transferring them from one hostel to the next? It might be idea to shake out your clothes in the shower or bath to see if any insects drop out. Mind you, I am thinking of fleas, and I'm not sure how big bedbugs are! Glad you've got the medication though. I'm going to send you an email now with other bits and pieces. Keep up the great blogs. I had no idea you had to wear all that equipment to walk on the bridge. Yesterday was April Fool's Day abnd the newspapers were all running the usual spoof stories. The Independent said that they had printed one spoof - you could enter their competition to try and spot it and, if lucky, win a case of port. They had some really funny stories - one about a group set up to protect the rights of robots, another on how to grow your own Viagra, one on an organisation where you can sign up to be an escapee for a day across the Mexican border, and another on digitally-enhanced lederhosen. Daddy entered the comp, but we still don't know the correct answer. Watch this space! Lots of love meantime, Mum xxx

Fran, You are so organised! You'll have no trouble finding a job that needs organisational skills. Have another good trip in Thailand and keep safe. I'll be signing off until 16 Apr as I'm on holiday until then, so I'll look forward to reading your journal. We're going to Paris for a few days, not quite exotic as your travels, but still welcome. For the cousins in OZ, hello :I don't think I have met any of you in London, but I'm the cousin living in Sheffield, Yorkshire.
Colleen (Australia)
Hi Fran, So you cant wait to leave this sunny country - the land of Neighbours, summo salads, boost juice bars, milk bars & the rest...well there's no place like home and I'm sure you're being terribly missed. Have a safe trip out of Australia and take care in Thailand but have fun. Everyone sends their love. Its Jayden's 3rd birthday party tomorrow - a fire engine party! No doubt Patsy will send photos. Mum is still in hosp. Picking up a bit, though still frail, now she's over the pneumonia. Lots of love & X's

Can't wait to hear your thoughts of the outback, and what you saw. I loved camping alone under the stars. They were great times.

Dear Frances,
that looks like Alice Springs.
We won't ask if you are enjoying yourself as we've been following your progress and it goes without saying you are.
We saw the piccies of the mask and chair yous ent home, but couldn't quite work out which was which...they both looked quite weird.

Hi Frances, there are flying insects in the outback, but I thing they were beetles as big as housebricks. When I was camping just outside Alice,I used to eat behind a fine mesh, with a head torch strapped to head at night, this light attracted them straight to me,so I ate most nights in the dark,to hot to sit in the tent. Good and DUCK.

Hi Fran, forgot to tell you that they have flying cockroaches out bush in W.A maybe they extend to the northern Territory!! Hope not though you'd be fine with your new headgear. This place is quiet without you...its like a dream that you were here. Time has flown.
Mum had a hip replacement and is doing well now but she waited 2 days for it. The surgeon was so busy and running 2 days behind!!!
Hope you enjoy the rest of the trip & take care xoxoxo
