Just experienced our first border control with both the Polish and Belarussian guards taking it in turn to board the train and check us out. The fact that we speak neither language isn't helpful, but they seemed pretty disinterested anyway. Woke up in Poland after a cosy night in bunk beds on the train... Very excited to have our own compartment and pleasantly surprised by the level of comfort - although charlie assures me they won't all be this nice! Arrived in Cologne and now waiting for the overnight train to Warsaw. Spent the train journey from Brussels trying to learn the Cyrillic alphabet to prepare us for Moscow. Charlie thinks he's an expert already... No comment. For those of you that are now thinking "is she really going to be writing this stuff every day?", don't worry - my obsession with the iPhone is going to wear off soon! Night night...x

After leaving drinks in both London and Brussels (thanks to everyone for coming!), we are now finally preparing for the off. With rucksacks bursting at the seams, we'll be heading to Cologne later this evening to catch our overnight train to Warsaw and then making our way to Moscow. Siberia awaits...!

Here we go! Sitting on the Eurostar in London for the first of many train journeys to come...Very exciting! Next stop Brussels for a few drinks with friends and then we'll finally be on our way.
