Ribe, Denmark
So this weekend I started jumping back in the sattle again of traveling. I decided to ween my way back into the traveling lifestyle. So I took a day to Ribe, Denmark. From my travel book and other resources I found out that Ribe was a good place to see while in Denmark. Ribe is the oldest city in Denmark, we are told, that dates back to the Vikings when the city was a trading villiage.
Andrew ( An australian here studying in simular program) and I decided to make a day trip here and see the sights. The first site we visited was a museam of Ribe that told the story of ribe thought the Viking and Medevil era. Very interesting history. The vikings were very skilled craftsmen especially with jewelry. While in the museum we got a little carried away and started playing around with the medevil wear that you can see in the photo section. I think they were there for that purpose, well I hope they were.
After the museum, we walked around the whole town. It took about 3 hours but it was very cool. Great pictures of coble stones and old buildings. I really liked it. Later we were told of a castle in the area. We walked there to be disapointed. What remains of this smaller castle is the moat and very few bricks.
All in all the trip was very cool. The city was small and was a perfect way to get ready for Oktoberfest this next weekend in Munich.
