"Jump around, jump around, jump up jump up and get down"
Hey there guys and gals,
So, last time I wrote I was still in LA, and hadn't done a whole lot because of the rain. As I said, on the Sunday I went back down Hollywood Boulevard, and then up to Runyan Canyon in the evening, and I was up there for the sunset. You can see from the photos I put up the amazing view that I had! (well, apart from the smog!)
Monday, I did the walking tour of Beverly Hills and saw where all the famous people supposedly live! That was amazing, just the difference in the air there from the centre of Hollywood is amazing. It's so clear and lovely out there! After that, Sylvia and I (a girl I had met) decided to try and go to Warner Brothers for a tour there, and this guy John decided to join us too. So we went to the bus stop, but no bus came for ages, so we decided to try and walk it. Bad mistake. Needless to say, the bus passed us, and we were walking for a very long time! We eventually go there, just to find the last tour of the day had already gone so we were too late! However, it was a nice day and enjoyed the walk just chatting away! Anyway, as we were up that part of town we decided to carry on to Universal Studios Citywalk, which was all great and lit up at night (as you can see from the photos). By then we were knackered, so just quickly grabbed something to eat, then headed back to the hostel on the metro (only two stops away - took us bout 4 hours to walk it!) and out for a few glasses of well deserved wine after having a quick shower!
Tuesday I spent with Bethan Peak (who I used to go to school with) which was great, hadn't seen her in years but was really good to catch up, and she took me up to the observatory for a few views, but then it started absolutely hammering it down with rain, so we moved on to the farmers market. Had some lunch there, then she was kind enough to let me use her internet quickly before heading back to the hostel. Met up with the others there for a bit, before heading to the airport to fly out to Auckland. The flight was ok, although most disappointing so far as my in flight entertainment wasn't working, and the flight was full so it wasn't like I could move seats to a working one! And the food wasn't the best I've had so far. Anyway, all in all the flight was ok, then got into Auckland yesterday, after completely missing Wednesday out of my life!
Yesterday I simply wandered around in a bit of a daze as I was a little fazed by missing Wednesday, not to mention very tired as I had been awake for a veeeeeeery long time, and trying to adjust to the new time zone! Today, I booked onto a free bus tour of Auckland, which is run by a company similar to the Kiwi Experience people. No one else from my hostel was booked on, but it was good as I met others from other hostels, and I went to the Sky Tower (but not up it - waste of money!), up Mount Eden, and then a walk along the Auckland bridge (one of the girls on the bus did a bungee jump off of it, hence the title at the top of this blog!). All for free! So that was a good way to see the main things in the city.
Tomorrow, the plan is to visit Victoria Markets and maybe the Art Gallery and go for a wander along the harbour, before heading off on the Kiwi Experience on Sunday morning.
So that is pretty much a summary of what I have been up to since I last wrote! It is lovely and sunny here, very hot, and I hear it has snowed again at home - HA HA! (hey, I just have to boast!)
I'll try and get the Auckland pictures up tomorrow before I leave, as they have the right capabilities here, so makes life a bit easier and keeps you all up to date!
Hope all is good for you guys xxx
