Hi guys i'm back in Perth now having just got back from my trip up North. Went on a week tour on a 4x4 minibus with about 20 people - really cool group which really made the trip - and a fab tour guide of course!
The first day we visited the Pinnacles Desert - it's amazing to see these massive limestone rocks in the middle of the desert - reliving my geography days - see I did learn something! It was also Melbourne Cup day which is practically a public holiday over here - it seems it's normal for everyone to have the day off work anyway! Then we continued on the Kalbarri for our overnight stop - via a bottle shop and sat on the beach watching the sunset.. First night with the group was hilarious - thanks guys!
Anyway so after about 4 hours sleep we headed off to Kalbarri National Park to to View Natures Window - think rock foramtions again - we so should have come here on a geography field trip instead of Wales in the winter! Then on to the Z-bend gorge - we trekked the 150 metre descent - well worth the effort - absolutely stunning and so quiet.
After lunch we headed to the beautiful Shell beach - made of millions of tiny white shells believe it or not! The waters is really shallow for miles out to sea - still deep enough for people to get thrown (fully clothed) in however - mentioning no names!
We stopped off at Denham that night in probably the nicest hostel ever - right on the beach and spent the night drinking (for a change) and playing 'scabby queen' (don't ask).
The following day we went to Monkey Mia to see the dolphins. Well worth getting up early for as they swim right up to you as you stand in the water. My photos are rubbish though I have to say! Had a lovely breakfast on the beach then started heading back towards Perth via our farmstay at Northampton. Kangaroo on the menu for our last night!
Final day heading back to Perth we stopped at the Hutt River Province - this guy has created his own country - no I am not joking it was the weirdest place ever I cannot even begin to describe. I'll just say it was like stepping back in time - he was absolutely off his rocker! He made himslef the King - need I say more.. Also stopped off at the wildlife park to check out the snakes camels and kangaroos - have a look at the photos!
Fab trip and met some fab people - hope to see you at xmas guys!
