Ann is the multi-talented youngest daughter of Hamilton Browne and Alice Livingston. Early on in her life, she travelled the world, stunning crowds wherever she went (including at the famous "La Scala" in Milan, the home of Opera). The piece below, saved by my mother for 50 years, appeared in the Birmingham Evening Mail heralding her triumphant appearance in the title role of "Cinderella" at Northampton Rep. The piece curiously specifies the exact address of her mother, who lived with us in Bournville, Birmingham at the time. The Cinderella production was put on sometime in the early sixties and I recall a "gala" style family outing to see our famous relative in the big event - I personally remember been blown away when my aunt/Cinderella miraculously appeared, after a spectacular stage "explosion", in all her finery, after her transformation into a Princess - the crowd literally gasped. Ann's career progressed, under her stage name of Sarah Shipton (with its ancestral connotations), to work with legends of stage and sceen such as Beryl Reid, Brian Blessed (Fancy Smith in Z cars) and the American heartthrob Troy McClure.
