Alice Fazey (nee Livingston) marries Paul Prescott Marshall in Cotteridge, Birmingham 1965. Like some of the others, for me, this photograph has a tremendous period feel, especially the look of the young man to the left, who was their driver for the day - he's a bit of a "Ted". Alice (Auntie Alice as I knew her) was simply the kindest, most generous person I ever met. Paul was also a gentle soul. The night before he died from cancer, he was laid up in bed, in a desperate situation. My mother was visiting and she asked him (slightly pointlessly, I suppose) how he was. His reply, so typically innocent, polite and self effacing was "Very well, thank you, Nora". Within a few hours, he was gone.
