Blas de Lezo, True Hero
This monument memorializes Bas de Lezo, a Spanish officer who previously lost an arm, a leg and an eye when he fought off one of the largest fleets ever assembled by the English in 1741. 2,500 poorly trained Spaniards managed to withstand 186 English ships and 25,000 English men. With the help of this well-built castle fortress, some say that the outcome of this battle is the reason that most of South America speaks Spanish today and not English. I'll be honest. I kind of wish the English would've one.
