Time to move once again -- this our last. The next big move willl be to board a plane back to Atlanta.
First we said goodbye to our host in Galway. Ernie owns perhaps a whole city block. Everyone in Galway knows Ernie, and what a great guy he is! He is probably younger than us but he wears a shop-keeper's apron and sets his glasses way down on the tip of his nose so he can see you eye-to-eye above the specs in real world fashion and then peer through the lenses to read his delivery receipts. He owns the buildings on our block. Our newly built-out apartment was upstairs but Ernie's Organic foods and fish store sits below on street level. What a wonderful man to meet!
Leaving Galway we boarded the fancy Express Bus from Galway to Shannon Airport. Once there we picked up our rental car . . . I just wish I could repeat how Stan approaches a desk like the one at Budget Rental Car in Shannon, and how he gets the whole team engaged, excited and laughing! He has a gift, you know.
Tiny car, luggage squeezed-in, maps in hand and Navigation all engaged, we decided to drive to the Cliffs of Mohers since we could not check-in at our Castletroy apartment until late afternoon. We drove out of the airport to Bunratty then to Ennis and to the town of Ennistymon. Again, the Lord delivered us a gift. We needed to eat. We chose a little tea room, in Ennistymon the ,Market House—the food was very chic and gourmet. Who would have guessed? We had quiche and salads of quinoa and fresh mint; chickpeas and red onion; and broccoli and carrot. Believe me, it was good!!!
Ok, whoever heard of Cliffs of Moher?? What a spectacular place! Stan found it on a map and took us there. Do see the photos!! This place is Ireland's most visited natural attraction. The cliffs are about 700 feet above the sea and run north and south for eight miles. Puffins and other sea birds live here as well as Minke whale and dolphin. Except for sea birds below us, flying from and to their roosts along the cliffs we did not actually get to see any of these great animal-beings at the time we were there but we were thankful we experienced this place and this day. The sky, the shore, the clouds, the cliffs, the pastures and the cows were beautiful.
Soooo, here we are—just amazing, it is, in Castletroy, Ireland, in our great little Airbnb rental. We have a cute and pristine small house, upstairs and downstairs with a garden in the back. We are only minutes from the university with its earthy shops and cafes, and just few minutes from my to-do list for tomorrow . . . The Milk Market (covered local farmers' and craft market only on Saturdays) and the Food Truck Festival -- just going on this weekend.
I'm so lucky.
