My journey home was long and exhausting. I flew from Singapore to Seoul, South Korea (6 hour flight), had a 9 hour layover where I went into the city to sight see, flew from there to San Francisco (10 hour flight), hung out there for 5 hours, then took a mega bus from there to Sacramento (2 hours) for a total of 32 hours of traveling. I left on Aug 6th and landed on Aug 6th, making this the longest official day of my life! Whoah.
Being back, even though it's been less than a day, is a humbling experience. Having modern amenities and clean drinking water at my fingertips is surreal. I can tell I'm going to have a tough time with jet lag, but also that I'm going to have a hard time with reverse culture shock and post trip depression.
This trip for me was life changing and basically an eat pray love type of experience. I met people who will be life long friends all over the world. I'm already planning a trip to see some of them hopefully during my Christmas break this year.
I saw amazing things, a beautiful part of this undoubtedly beautiful world, and my life will forever be touched by this journey. I hope that my experiences will touch some of you and inspire you to travel. Whether it be a quick trip to a city you've never been to, or a long trip to a different country, anything is better than nothing. The world is meant to be explored, and this has only made my itch to travel even more itchy.
Thank you to everyone who has followed my journey and been supportive and encouraging. It means the world to me to have such amazing friends and family to share my experiences with. The phones calls, texts, and emails were phenomenal to receive and made me feel loved from miles away.
I can't wait to share my next adventure wherever and whenever that might be, and I hope you all will do the same!
Now get out there and see something new! Can't you hear the world calling your name?
With love and a full heart,
Em
