On Sat 20th we headed off to the town of Mont Tremblant, basically a man made township designed for ski season, but it was really cute. Great views from the free Gondala.
We hit the road and headed to Omega Park where you can feed the Wapiti and see raccoons, wolves and bears. No Moose though, and when we got to the bear part, it started to torrential rain, so much that all you could see was a black blur in the greenery!
We hit Ottawa quite late and did a quick walking tour of the parliment buildings and tried to blow out the centential flame. We headed back to our hostel and then got on the beer.
That night we went out in Ottawa, to a bar that was full of arcade games, met up with Mike from my Tasmania trip had many a shot, and finished the night with Poutine (chips, cheese curds and gravy)
We ended up spending the night in the cells.
Yup the hostel was a converted jail! so we slept in the cells, the bar was the old hangman's courtyard! In the night I properly freaked myself out, they told us loads of ghost stories and as I got up to go to the toilet I opened my cell door (complete with sound effects) and thought I saw a man sitting in the arm chair in the cell block; looked back and there was no one there, with the wind whistling through the window I properly sh*t myself!
On sunday there was no hangover to be seen, thanks to the Poutine we think! we headed to the market but opted for Mc Ds to just ensure there was no hangover at all!
We left Ottawa at 1.30pm and with the torrential rain and traffic we spent 8 hours in the bus with only 1 wee stop!
We arrived in Toronto at 8ish and checked into one of the worst hostels I have ever been to. Positives: free brekkie and free internet (on computers) Negatives: where to begin, no lockers, top bunk with no ladder, no floor space, so noisy, so hot, and then complete wa*&kers in the room that had no respect for anyone else.
Needless to say I was happy to get out in the morning. So much so that I got to the airport 5 hours early!
