Emma and Simon's travels
we arrived in chiang mai shatterd what a s***ty journey it took over 12 hours and the bus was freezing, we spent the day looking round chiang mai and in the evening we went to what we thought was the night market in the pouring rain got lost so took a tuk tuk home
the next morning we started our three day hill trek starting at the lisu hilltribe village it was hard work and it was pouring with rain which made it very slippy and we were all covered in mud from falling over but unbelievebly good fun, we realised how unfit we are. we trekked up and down mountains thrugh jungle to the hilltribe village of Lahu which is where we spent the night without running water or electric. We ate, drank, danced and sang with the villagers who were high on opium, never hought being soaking wet, filthy dirty and bittern to death could be so much fun
in the morning we trekked for hours to a waterfall ......heavenly we had time to wash the sweat and mud off us at last and swim we trekked for another two hours to an elephant camp we then rhode an elephant for about an hour which kept trying to eat simon's feet then it was back to walking to the next village which was Karen where we ate drank and sat playng card games and match stick games while the guides got stoned again
the next morning the trekking got easier we walked to a village where we rafted it was great fun trying to get everyone to fall off, the rafts were made off bamboo and they all broke and we ended up swimming and towing the rafts down the river
we then drove back to chiang mai where we stayed for a couple of days till we could get a flight to southern thailand
