After a big night out (at a friends party), Susanna and I had planned a trip overnight to the beautiful country of Denmark, which was also a convienient 2 hour drive-by-car away. As we set out upon our journey the day began with much sunlight and people taking off their coats from the previous weeks cold whether. Upon arriving to the camping grounds of which we were staying in Denmark the whether did not look too good, it was foggy, windy and becoming colder by the minute. After many suggestions to go for a drive to the nearest town (It was me who suggested this as i forgot my swimmers and wanted to buy more) we drove to a town starting with S. I cannot remember the name of the town as I am writing this blog late at night after a long day in Hamburg. (The glass of red wine being consumed currently may also not be helping). But this town was beautiful. Every place I go I simply think to myself that Europe cannot get any better, but yet it continues to surprise me with its beauty! We walked upon a plank, almost pier like walkway by the seaside and the many boats that has casted a combination of german and denmark flags, each trying to out-do eachother. We passed many pubs, which looked appealing to the eye especially in the heat and sunlight of the present afternoon, I found myself wanting a cold glass of beer, and believe me, i never drink the stuff! We did a loop past the seaside and into the city centre, through the mall of shops, luckily for my bank account we arrived about an hour too late for shopping. After seeing much of the beautiful town and passing a few clubs (which looked quite intereresting, with the pictures of busty blondes in olden day constumes plastered on the windows) we settled to eat in a small (but very expensive) chinese restaurant. After filling ourselves with expensive chinese food we headed back to our camping grounds and played many drinking games (all of which i seemed to lose). By the time it reached night fall we decided upon making a fire and we all split up to collect firewood, some of which, incidentally, was taken from neighbouring peoples back gardens. Woops. It wasnt me I swear. After much match lighting, paper ignighting and fanning of the flames we finally had a big hot fire ready for toasting marshmellows. It was a good evening, many stories were told and laughs were had. I found myself exhausted and headed to bed relatively early (1am). After a terribly uncomfortable sleep, mostly due to the fact that the sun rose at about 3am and it was awfully windy (someone had not secured the tent properly so it was flapping around all night), we all rose feeling anything but fresh faced and well rested, we packed up our camping gear and began yawning... I mean driving, our way back home to Germany.
On a side note, I wish I could have had more time to explore this beautiful country and I plan on returning here in the future to explore its towns furthur, hopefully when I return it will be with my partner, as I found myself thinking how wonderful of an adventure it would be with a loved one, simply due to the countries beauty and ofcourse the many clubs and pubs of which need exploring furthur! ;-)
Until next time, as they would say in Denmark - hej hej !
