The Bowman Adventures
Well we can`t quite belive it...only 2 weeks to go....yet we press on and after the charm of colonial Paraty we headed to Iguassu Falls to witness them at their driest state in 30 years. It was pretty disappointing but there were still spectacular views to be had....we'll just have to watch The Mission when we return. Managed to fit in another couple of countries whilst we were down there also. Spent a day on the Argentinian side of the falls and then a morning in Paraguay....it was amazing to see the difference between countries even if it was just across a river. Also very entertaining to watch the blatant smuggling going on between the borders and the very nonchalent border guards!!! Ruth was happy to see her first bit of capoeira even if it was at a very cheesy buffet and dance show.....the sushi and steak were great. Now we find ourselves (after another sleepless night bus journey) in the interior of Brazil in a place called Bonito. No beaches here but beautiful clear rivers where we managed to cool down with a dip joining the locals in their tiny bikinis and speedos...Ruth's bikini has got smaller but I still prefer the shorts to trunks!! Spent today in another river this time in a wetsuit, snorkelling in what is meant to be the best fresh water snorkelling around.........it was amazing. You could see for metres as we witnessed the various forms of fish life checking us out. Unfortunately there were no signs of anacondas even though one had been spotted only 2 days ago.....apparently it was 3 metres long. We weren't too bothered about missing out, although Ruth swore that she saw a Caiman in the depths...I didn't hang around long enough to confirm the sighting!! Tomorrow we head off for the Pantanal for more wildlife experiences and Ruths final attempt to get me on a horse!!
Watch this space!!
Love to everyone
