Day 10 started off a little more leisurely. Jimmy had planned significantly more for me during my stay than I had anticipated, and we were going to see it all, and do it all. It didn't end up QUITE that full, but it was a great tie nonetheless.
Jimmy's father, Mike, came along with us to do some sightseeing in the morning and over lunch. He was extremely useful, as he knew a lot more about the area than I could possibly ever absorb, and while Jimmy had a wealth of knowledge as well, some of the stuff just wasn't knowledge that was readily available to anyone.
Our first destination was the WW1 museum in KC, MO, which I was very much impressed with It goes into great depth regarding the history, sociological, economic and political reasons for the war, and has a wing devoted solely to the war before the US entered it. The main problem I had was that the majority of the focus was given to the US involvement after they entered the war in 1917. They were a huge part of the war, for sure, but not 100% the reason why the war was won, which was the impression the museum seemed to be putting forward.
The liberty monument area was pretty cool as well, and I got some great skylines of KC while I was up there.
After the museum, we headed to the Crown Centre for lunch, I had a turkey club, and then to the aquarium inside the crown centre. It was FAR more impressive than I had believed it would be, and some of the shots I got there, while not technically competent, are amazing in real life. To have a ray swim directly over you is pretty darn cool.
After the Aquarium, we went to Nebraska Furniture Warehouse to pick up a vacuum, and then went to retrieve my car from the dealership. It ended up costing me $216, but that was more because of a drive belt that was cracked and worn, and it was prudent to do the work now as opposed to waiting for it to break. We went back to Jimmy's place, and I got to meet Scooter and Hamlet, both tireless pets, Scooter more so than Hamlet, and we vegged while waiting for the time to go over to Jimmy's brother in law's house for Board Game night.
The Board game on offer was Betrayal at the House on the Hill, which was an extremely inventive board game which involved building a house as you explore it, until inevitably, one of the players is revealed as a traitor, and the goal of that particular scenario becomes clear. It can make for some amazing games, such as our first, and some really awful games, such as our second. I had fun though, and thoroughly enjoyed board game night. Tomorrow I head up into the mountains to Colorado Springs, and it's going to be another day of not very many pictures, and probably not a ton of text either, but I'll endeavor to have something up tomorrow evening.
I apologize for missing posting last night's update by nearly a day, I just didn't have internet access.
