We are now in Coober Pedy and what a strange place it is there are a few houses above ground but there are also many houses built underground. We went into one of the houses and it was really cool down there but you wouldn't want to be claustrophobic.
We did a tour of the town this morning which was down by an old miner and it was very funny,it was well worth it as it took you to places you wouldn't dream of going to.There are a lot of aboriginals in the town and they have their own community just out of town.
We are locked in to the caravan park at 10.00pm and they open the gates again in the morning for our safety.
The countryside up here is beautiful as it is green for the first time in many years,it is only saltbush but it is still quite spectacular. There is lots of wildlife on the roads,we have had to slow down for emus a couple of times and we have seen a few beautiful eagles on the side of the road.
The weather up here has been really good 20 degrees with clear blue skies, but the night get very cold.We are heading towards Alice Spring tommorrow but it will probably take us a couple of days to get there,we will probably stay behaind a roadhouse tommorrow night. We have booked our accommodation in Alice Springs as there are so many vans on the road it is unbelievable.
Will log in again when possible as there is no service once you get out on the open road.
