First Blog. Tokyo was incredible. Possibly the greatest city on earth. It is definitely the busiest. Five days there is not enough though we were able to do a lot thanks to Tosh and friends. Visited numerous temples and shrines including Meiji-Jingu and a shrine for those who lost their lives during war time. Visited Imperial Palace gardens although it took us three visits before we managed to get in the gardens. Went to Harajuku (lots of cool shops) and met the Harajuku girls in all their costume and dresses. Also met the Japanese T-Birds in the park. A night out in Rippongi after climbing Tokyo Tower and getting some magnificent views of the city at night (Rippongi Tower Apartments are incredible-think I might buy one when I'm older). Timing was off tho as we went on Sunday and the clubs and pubs were dead...including Geronimo which sounds like it is awesome on a Friday. Will have to go back to try it. Navigated the Metro system pretty well even when by ourselves despite it being so confusing. Most stations have 9 different exits each leading to somewhere totally different. Went to Edo-Tokyo, saw the Sumo hall, visited Ginza which is full of all the best shops, visited Electric Town, Shibuya Crossing which is the busiest place in the world-over 1,000 people cross the road when the green light comes on, had rickshaw ride round Asakusa, lots of other places that would take too long to name. Highlight was trip to Disneyland, purely because of Tosh's reactions on the rides. Never heard someone scream so much. Food was outstanding. Everday something different, Sushi incredible and so filling, soba noodles, dishes made in front of you and even get to cook them yourself on charcoal stove, excellent. Overall great start to the tour, Aus has got a lot to live up to. Would definitely go back. Fortunate that we had guides as almost every sign is in Japanese but then why shouldnt it be. Great, great place.
Pics to be uploaded as I can only put on 100 and must have taken over 1,000.
