Today we travelled from Phuket up to Khao Sok National park. It was quite exciting to be away from the islands and beaches and be surrounded by so much greenery! The bus took 4 hours and it pretty much rained all day so much so that once we hit Khao Sok and had checked in we headed out at buy some Rain Poncho's!?! Very Sexy im sure you can imagine ;oD
Khao Sok is very quiet the kind of place where people get up at 6am to go hiking and then are tucked up in bed by 9pm ready for the next day. We booked ourselfs onto a tour for the next day 1,300B 8.30am pick up, Kyaking, Hiking, Caving, Swimming and food all included, we spent a while talking to Sa our tour guide and found out that he has been a memebr of the area search and rescue for the last 10 years so we knew we were in good hands :oD All we needed was flip flops, clothes we didnt mind getting wet, a tourch and sunscreen.....
Early wake up call this morning, 7am start so we had time for breakfast. We had the pleasure of meeting our land lady this morning, not as pleasent as you would think?! She started by questionning us about why we were up so early, when we explained that we had booked a guided tour the tone of the conversation soon changed and she explained that she would not take our bookin for the following evening?!?! How strange??!! We had planned to stay for a couple of days but after that we decided to head out to Khao Lak the next day.
The tour was amazing,! The were only 5 of us in our group, after an hours drive in the back of a pick up we arrived at the Lake set in the middle of the National Park. Then there was an hours long boat ride where we landed at a floating village. This is where we had lunch, Kyaked and sawm before heading out into the jungle on our 1hour trek (in flip flops) upto the cave. The cave was amazing, very tight at points with quite deep running water which we had to dangle off a rope and pull ourselves through?! after about 30mins of tight caving and climbing through the water we reached the larger more open section of the cave (not my favourite, LOTS of HUGE spiders) I had already asked Sa, our guide, not to point out spiders to me so kat went in front and when he saw them she steered me off in the other direction, apparently they were quite large, furry, black and yellow and could possibly have given me a heart attack!!!!!
Back out of the cave and after hiking to base we had the lushest meal of fresh water fish, stir fry, sweet and sour and rice, chilled with a few other groups who had arrived back after us and then headed out on the boat back home again. The ride back across the lake was breath taking! The sun was setting and the scenery was, well, just look at the photos :oD
That night we arrived back at the room around 6.30pm had quick showers and then like any true Brits followed the signs for the British Pub 'with English chef'!!!!! OMG!!!!! Baked Potatoe, Beans and Cheese!!!!!! WOOO YEAH!! Amazing :oD Needless to say we are also heading there in the morning before we leave for breakfast.....
