Got the bus this morning to go to Cahuita. Was not impressed at all. We were meant to stop for a 15 minute break and I had to swap buses. The other guy didn't show up for an hour and then I had to wait while they had their 15 minute break. Got to Cahuita about 1pm and the driver couldn't find the hostel I was meant to be staying in so he just decided to drop me off in the middle of a fu*king street somewhere. HELLOOOO. I am in a foreign country, don't speak the language and don't have a clue where I am. He really couldn't care less so have to sort myself out.
Started walking and this guy came running up to me (with a joint hanging out of his mouth) asking if I was looking for a place to stay. He pointed me to a hotel (if you could call it that) 2 mins away. It was very very cheap and I had a room to myself so it turned out quite well.
The weather is amazing here but was told the last couple of weeks have been terrible. At last my luck is looking better.......or so I thought.
The guide book I have recommends this butterfly garden place which is only a 15 minute walk away from the hotel. So off I go and get to the door to be told it's closed!!!! The bad weather meant there were hardly any butterflies and they were fixing it up. Luckily the lady told me that I could come in and look around. The garden was lovely and I can imagine it would be amazing if all of the butterflies were there.
Got back to the hotel and decided to go to the national park which is only a few mins walk away. Got there and was told only half of it is accessible because of the rain - aggghhhh! Started walking and saw some sloths and white faced monkeys. A couple of the little b******s tried to attack me because they thought the plastic bag I was carrying had food in it. I was honestly petrified and shouted "HELP ME PLEASE" to this couple I had just met on the track. The guy chased them away for me and I ran back to the entrance! The park was a bit devasted because of the weather but still beautiful. The path follows right next to the beach.
Got a quarter bottle of vodka, went for dinner and then back to my room. Was really nice to be able to relax by myself and not have to share a room with 10 other people for a change.
Hopefully going to the sloth sanctuary tomorrow morning and then on to Panama!

Woke up at 8am to the sound of torrential rain! Takes me a minute to remember that I am not in Scotland. Stay in bed and read my book and wait for the rain to go off. Well I was waiting all bloody day! It did not go off until 3pm by which point I was starving! Go and get something to eat then head to the internet cafe to see when I can get a bus to Bocas del Toro. Need to wait until tomorrow now so need to figure out what I am going to do tonight as my book is nearly finished.
Went into a bar on the way back to the hotel and have a wee beer and watch some football. There are a lot of very FRIENDLY people here! The (ugly, old) bar tender is coming on to me something awful. Tells me that there will be live music tonight and that he will be there - wink wink. Sorry but is that meant to entice me or something?? Quite an easy decision to get some dinner and an early bed. Bus to Panama leave tomorrow at 8am - weather better be better there!
All in all another s*** day! This unplanned part of my trip is becoming a nightmare. All character building I suppose!
