After my wet, but amazing, jungle-adventure in Corcovado I was again on the road, on my way to Panama City. Some boat-riding, and 12 hours of bussing later I was back in the city I barely spottet from the airport some 4 months earlier.. Panamas capitol is vastly different from any other city in Central - Amerika I've seen (and I've pretty much seen them all). Skyscrapers, brand-stores and wealth surrounds the prosperous city.
My plan for Panama was basically just hang around and do some cheap sightseeing, spend as little money as possible and find a boat for me and Roger to take us to Colombia. Finding a boat was smooth sailing, sightseeing was very reasonable and I even got in a good hike with animal - watching in a national park very close to the centre. In this park, I got the privelige of almost stepping on a huge tarantella, wearing nothing but sandals, and seeing it pick a fight with a tarantella - vasp, very cool. I also took the mandatory tour to the Panama Canal - a very impressive construction.
Another, not so cool, experience I now carry in my personal luggage was watching a cold blood murder on the street only meters away. I still don't know exactly what happened, but a very unpleasant situation.
Only four days before departure through the San Blas Islands with Roger, I kind off invited my self along on a sail-trip through the picturesque islands for three days with a friend in Panama. The Islands are incredible, breathtaking and all other superlatives I can think off, but more on that in the entry about my trip to Colombia.
I rounded off my panama - stay with a free night in the Gold Suite at The Meridien, maby the nicest hotel in Panama City.
