The volcanoes around Arequipa and Colca are of archeological interest due to several child sacrifices being found at the summits. The most famous is Juanita - found frozen on Ampato and very well preserved - we explored the exhibit in Arequipa displays her (still frozen) and artifacts found with her and other children.
