Great rest stop at Airlie Beach. Stayed at BIG4 Airlie Beach which we had heard great things about. We were a little disappointed and thought some of the Victorian parks we have stayed at are much better. Having said that, the boys had fun in the pool and in the water slides; a common theme this trip. We didn’t get out to the reef for a day trip unfortunately. Airlie Beach reminded us of Port Douglas. We are on our way back down the Qld coast after a week with family in Cairns. It is so hard to wake up to a view like this. Off to The Whitsundays today.

Beautiful weather in Cairns. It was 30 degrees yesterday (Sorry to you Victorians waking up to -1.5 today). It always feels like coming back to a second home in Cairns with a sister, 2 nieces, & 2 1/2 great nieces/ nephew here. No sightseeing for us this trip while I help out with family. The 3 boys and our caravan however are enjoying the weather and the facilities at BIG4 Cairns Coconut.

First bush camp of the trip and what a beauty! Well sort of a bush camp if you can call living in our Taj Mahal caravan, camping. Gorgeous spot off the road in the scrub. We can’t understand why the grey nomads stop right on the busy roadside. Although when 3 roadtrains carrying stock rattled past our quiet spot at once, we were wondering what we had done! Wow what a surprise and delight Carnarvon Gorge is. This is such a gem in the middle of Qld. Beautiful landscapes, crystal clear fresh water, sandy beaches, platypus, kangaroos, a fantastic camp spot with great amenities and a photo board which I just love! I can’t rave enough about the location and Takarakka Bush Resort. Wish we could stay longer. On our way to Airlie Beach today and tomorrow. We are so fortunate to be able to do this trip.
