06.05.05 Woke up early to get the ferry today - was woken by sunrise over the sea coming through the window of our room - beautiful :) Got the ferry across and back on the bus again. Stopped briefly at Mission Beach before stopping again at a crocodile farm. Weather was pants - had to walk around with umbrellas, but crocs were pretty huge! Crazy guide sat on the back of one! After a tour of the farm, the owners 'handed out' animals for us to hold - no WAY was I going near the snakes, but thought I would be brave with a baby croc - ARGHHH!! Hated it!! (see the picture!!) Felt disgusting!! So quickly through it at the next willing participant! After that we went to the AJ Hackett bungy site - didn't want to risk anything with my ankle, but watched some other lunatics throw themselves off! Arrived in Cairns at dusk and got picked up for my accom. which was a fair way out of the centre. 07.05.05 I had booked my Cairns trips in advance, so up nice and early again for a trip - to the Great Barrier Reef! Met some Americans on the boat that I had briefly met last night which was good - Tiffany & I compared war wounds as she had recently fallen off a moped! Sailed out for nearly 2 hours before reaching the reef, then donned full stinger suits (sexy) to swim and snokel amongst the amazing underwater scenery - really awesome! We were out there for quite a while. I had swum out a bit further when I started getting a tingling feeling across my face - like a stingy cobweb...when I realised I'd been stung by a jellyfish!! Panick set in and I waved around for help for what seemed like ages! Got dragged back to the boat and had vinegar sprayed on me (no pee involved!!). Looked very attractive once the sun had dried it! 08.05.05 Absolutely awesome 3 days in Cairns - diving in the reef and visiting the rainforest.
