There had been a terrific storm overnight that killed our electricity for a period - sparks flew out the air con system and the ceiling fan stopped spinning. By morning, the electricity had returned but the puddles remained and there were some pretty big ones too, more like small lakes. We were up early to beat the crowds to the Tulum Ruins, we'd heard it gets busier and busier as the day goes on. Our hotel gave us bicycles to use during our stay so we went whizzing past the hundred or so walkers on the road to the entrance. Our stay in Playa Del Carmen was always planned to be a holiday - a nice hotel, diving and not watching the pennies so carefully - and now it had came to an end.
