We arrived in Miraflores, supposedly the arty bit of Lima, after a very quick and speedy flight. When we arrived at our hotel, Inkawasi we were greeted by a cross between Dracula and a sloth - he was sinister but very slow. We sorted out our travel for the next day (to Nazca to see the lines) and then went for a walk along the promenade by the front. We went and got a maccy ice cream and watched as children (and only children unfortunately!) jumped around in a sort of bunjee swing. There were also people swooping past us, hang-gliding - people knew how to have fun here! We grabbed a bite to eat and then got a good night's rest ready for more travelling in the morning.
After an early start we got to the bus station and found we were seated next to other people but we persuaded some guy to swap and settle down for a filmathon. As we left Lima and drove through the desert on the outskirts where the shanty towns are I found the irony hard to miss as the bill boards all advertised cool looking people drinking beer and probably all the people living near them could have done with was a drop of good old-fashioned water!
Anyway, we started winging our way to our next stop: Nazca.
