Hey everyone,
With just under a week to go on our travels now, we thought we'd fill you in with all our tour adventures, but we are also really looking forward to telling you them in person when we are back.
Thailand
Our tour began back on Saturday 26th April, in Bangkok. There we met Amanda, our tour leader, along with 10 other travellers in our group, Danny being one of only two boys! All our group were lovely and we all got on straight away.
Our first night took us to Bangkok's famous Khao San Road, a very busy and exciting market street, full of bars and clubs. It was a nice ice breaker for the group.
On day two we went on a Klong tour (boat trip down Bangkok's canals), good fun. We also visited Wat Pho, one of Bangkok's most prestigious temples, hosting the great reclining Buddha, at 46m long and 15m high. We also visited the temple of the Emerald Buddha, inside the Grand Palace, the former residence of the monarch. That evening we took an overnight train to Chiang Mai. We were both very sceptical about the overnight sleeper, but were actually pleasantly surprised.
In Chiang Mai we went elephant treking (for our second time, but equally brilliant) and bamboo rafting, where Danny did all the rowing and Josie sat back and enjoyed the ride down the river. That evening we visited the Doi Suthep Temple, which we had to climb 360 steps to reach. Here we were blessed by a buddhist monk and were given bracelets of good luck for travelling.......... so far so good, so we are keeping them on till we are home safely!
The following morning, we visited another temple in Chiang Rai, before crossing the Mekong River into Laos.
The Laos installment will be on your screens soon!!!
