Phuket, pronounced Pu-ket for all you gutter-brains out there, is a town in southern Thailand. Phuket itself didn't have much to offer, other than a refuge during the tsunami evacuation. Other than that, our time was spent in the beach area of Patong. We spent April 13th-16th here enjoying the beach and catching up with friends.
We didn't do much in Patong other than "catch up on life days" (laundry, errands, future travel planning, trying to fix my darn back/leg pain, etc.) I had hope to meet up with two schoolday friends from home who happened to be in the area but it didn't work out : ( Other than that, we spent each night meeting up with Peter's friends from Amsterdam, but who are all Hungarian.
We had fun playing frisbee on the beach, eating dinner in the dark during a town-wide blackout, and going out at night. The main road, Bangla Rd., is even more crazy than Khao San Road in Bangkok, compact with bars. There's one place called Tiger Bar that is a HUGE open-air structure with LOTS of little bars inside. Kinda neat.
Surprisingly, I didn't take one photo in Phuket--I know, I can't believe it either! I was excited to have a few of the photos that Peter #2 took, but he and Andras had all their stuff (including photos on phone) stolen while swimming in the ocean one night : (
On the last night, "Jimmy", Peter, and I tried to meet up with everyone for one last celebration but we never found each other : ( Instead, the three of us had fun playing bar games. One was hammering in a nail to see who got it in first (it's more fun than it sounds) and our favorite was Spot the Difference--we rocked it! Ended the night and our time in Phuket by opening presents for me and for Peter's birthday, a joint celebration and double fun!
