After a fantastically written first and second blog dani has allowed me (with her checking) to write the next one so here goes!!
We left Chiang Mai at 9am catching a mini bus to the border town of Chiang Khong. It took 8 hours to get up there so we got there by 5pm. We checked into our hostel which was a classy establishment that smelt slightly like a sewer! But it was only 1 night and we are embracing being travellers! We had a really really nice dinner and got an early night as we had to be up at 6:30 the next morning for breakfast at 7.
Next day we got up bright and early only to find breakfast was an hour and a half later than planned and was only 2 pieces of bread and an egg. A columbian girl we were travelling with had gotten bitten on the leg and had to go to hospital in the night for rabies shots and the taxi driver was ill so we had to walk to the border, so wasn't the greatest start to the day. Luckily the border wasn't far and we jumped on a little wooden boat to run us across the river into laos. Once in Laos we decided to catch a night bus to Luang Prabang which takes 15 hours and left at 5pm. The bus was ok and we both managed to get a bit of sleep albeit interupted as the bus stops every 3 hours and the driver played his music quite loud to make sure he didn't fall asleep!
Once in Luang Prabang we checked into a guesthouse after shopping around and finally got some sleep. We jumped into a Tuk Tuk after lunch and went to see Tat Kuang waterfall about 35km south of where we were staying. The waterfall was amazing, it had about 6 layers to it, there were loads of areas to swim and people could jump of the smaller waterfalls. It also helped how the weather was about 35 degrees. In the eveing we booked our bus ticket to our next stop of Vang Vieng and took a stroll through the night market (Dani was in her element) picking up a couple of little bits. Our nights sleep was again interupted this time by a huge cockroach which ran across the floor and then disappeared before i could catch it which meant all night i wondered if he was going to come back later in the night!
We got a bit of a lay in the next day before hopping onto a bus bound for Vang Vieng which will be covered in our next expertly written blog, which will be at a later date as the internet here is costing loads!
