Here's an update from Rome. We hopped on a train early Thursday morning for La Spezia, then changed to a nicer, faster train bound for Rome. We arrived in Rome around 2pm, and after lots of searching we finally found our apartment around 3:30. Rome is a challenge! Our neighborhood is wonderful, though. It's a trendy spot called Trastevere, just across the river from the ancient center of the City. We have good bus connections to other parts of the city, and we've been out sighseeing both days here. We took an excellent guided tour of the Vatican Museum and St. Peter's, and we visited the Pantheon, the Trevi fountain, and the Spanish Steps. All that the first day. Today we got up early again and were some of the first toursits to the Colosseum. We also walked around Palatine Hill and the Roman Forum, and visited Campo Di Fiore for lunch. Tonight we're headed out to Piazza Navona to check out the Saturday evening action in old Rome.
Tomorrow we'll board an Alitalia flight bound for Venice about 1:30pm.
