Colin and Jenny's Pure Mad Asian Travels
Colin is making me write this entry.. be warned im going to bore you.
Hoi An... aaaaaah what to say...
We arrived on Tuesday after the HELL that was Nha Trang, and to treat ourselves we decided to book into quite a fancy hotel (8 pounds a night no less) to cheer ourselves up... we only intended to stay in the nice hotel for one night and maybe spend 3 days in Hoi An but we completely fell in love with it and spent a whole week.
It is just STUNNING! And apparently we went at the quietest time so there were about 10 other tourists there... it was perfect.
The biggest attraction of the place is the tailors..you go in, tell them what you want and they make it for you for cheap cheap. It started out innocently enough, a coat here... a pair of jeans there... 5 days later colin had 2 suits, 7 shirts, 3 pairs of jeans and god knows what else and i had a coat, a jacket, a million tops and a suit- I don't even wear suits! I'm unemployed! We had to buy an extra suitcase to bring everything home, which is a complete piece of s*** and the wheels fell off the first time we used it. I'm not completely convinced we're going to get everything home in one piece.
Our hotel was lovely and we spent lots of quality time watching MTV hoping that the HORRIBLE Robbie Williams video would come on so we could just laugh about how bizarre it was, and Colin spent alot of time waiting for the new Jessica Simpson video to come on because apparently he 'likes the song'.. (As I write this he's on her website with earplugs in, trying to hear it..)...
The food in Hoi An was also splendid. A really fancy delicious meal was also cheap cheap and the local beer was the nicest I think i've ever tasted. Plus, there was a bakery that sold the most delicious chocolate mousse either of us have ever tasted and we bought one every day after lunch! (Diet starts tomorrow).
Although we were there for a whole week and the town was tiny, we didn't actually manage to see any of the sights in Hoi An.. ahem... there was just too much shopping to be done.. but we did stumble across a beautiful Japanese bridge which is apparently very important (but we didn't read about it to find out why... this was our lazy week..).
My highlight of the whole trip was one of the menus in a really nice restaurant. You could either have a Pizza Romana: tommata sause, mosarellya cheese, pepers, hamm, and Back Dives. Or, Pizza Eggs: Mozarella cheese, tomato sauce and ham.
(Colins still talking about the Jessica Simpson song).
Anyway, it was just lovely and stunning and the people weren't THAT moany and ooh all the clothes and arg I think I may move there. And make my Mum move there too because she would love it. So there.
Time to go, be good! Lots of love Jenny xxxxx
