Cooktown After spending just short of a month at Atherton in the lovely tablelands west of Cairns, we spent a night at Granite Gorge where we got close up and personal with numerous Mareeba Rock Wallabies as well as some strenuous rock climbing (see Christine's photo). Atherton We spent three days at Charters Towers then travelled on to Atherton in the Tablelands of Queensland. We found a lovely caravan park just 15 minutes from the town of Atherton set up for a few weeks. Sadly we had some bad news from home that Christine’s sister Jenny had passed away after suffering a stroke which meant that we flew back to Perth for a week to attend her funeral.

Toowoomba & Emerald From Glen Innes we travelled north into Queensland spending several days in Toowoomba which gave us an opportunity to get our car serviced and replace a couple of car tyres. Toowoomba was badly flooded in January of this year, the results of which were still very evident in the town centre as well as in its many parks and gardens.
