Hello everyone!
We have arrived safe and sound and are currently melting from the heat!
We had a 12hour flight where we flew into Bangkok, massive airport that's cleverly designed with big space looking domes. From there we catches a taxi to our first hostel that was just on a back street behind the main strip, koah San road. We ventured out straight away, wasn't as busy as we expected, but there was still a hustle and bustle vibe. We hit some bars and we attempted a 'Sam song' bucket! Absolutely mank, has a very cheap version of red bull that is so sweet that our teeth will fall out by the time we leave! Met loads of different people straight away, some teaching, working, but mainly travelling. On top of the bucket we had cocktails that had such a strong sugary mixer and we tried the local beer. Considering none of us are heavy drinkers, these went down a bit too smoothly, and by this time it was 2am, and still hadn't slept, we surprisingly felt like we could go on forever. However come the morning we were woken by about 5 cockerels! The loudest screeching noise...we couldn't find them....but if we did!!!!
Following day we had a mooch around, tried a Thai back shoulder and foot massage for around £2.50. Loads of food stalls situated on all of the side streets and they sell anything and everything you can imagine and it's all dirt cheap.
For the next night in Bangkok we had a hostel nearer the airport....we had Bunkbeds! I'm sure we will find this alot more along the way. We had dinner on Thai mats over looking the airport and there were loads of tiny lizards all over the wall! Harmless but moved so quickly.
Next day we made our way to Surat Thani via air Asia, hadn't flown with them before, bu they were so efficient, and somehow Chloe got through with about 5 hand luggage bags, with some help from the girls. When we arrived it was the smallest airport, like a cardboard box, we then grabbed an 'illegal' taxi with a Deutch couple. 5 of us crammed in, when we asked how long it's always '5 minutes'.... An HOUR later we arrive at the ferry port! Lucky the Deutch couple could speak English! We got the speedboat across to Ko Phangan, a 2 hour journey, with all the travellers heading over for the full moon party for New years. We had a taxi take us to our hostel in Ban Tai, about 5 km from Hat Rin where the Full moon party takes place. We are here for 5 nights which is the longest stay we have in Thailand, if we counted the amount of times we have opened and closed our cases, it's unreal!
The other girls Cheryl, Nikki and Hayley have also arrived in Ko Phangan and we're meeting them tonight to watch a Thai boxing match.......loving it so far, weather was HOT today, just how we like it, as we currently look like albinos amongst BBQ chicken!
Things to remember so far:
There are hundreds of illuminous pink taxis in Bangkok
Bring an empty case and buy everything here
There are loads of 7 elevens and even a TESCO
There are loads of lady boys....you can so tell, the skinny legs and bench chest give it away
The men all have the LONGEST little finger going, it's making us feel sick
Stay away from Sam Song
Learn to like redbull
Any weirdos that ask where your from say 'Russia' ... If that doesn't work say your names 'coral' ha ha
Love to you all
